An Ostara Ritual for a solitary witch
Ostara is a great time for balance. Its time of equal parts of light and dark.
1, For Ostara most witches decorate their altar with symbols of the season. Use the colours and nature that you see around you at this time of year. Ostara is a time of fertility in the natural world, the egg is the perfect representation of this aspect of the season. Young animals like lambs, chicks, and calves are also great altar adornments for Ostara.
2, You will require the following
Three candles - One green, One yellow, and one purple
A bowl of milk
A small bowl of honey or sugar.
The outside and early in the morning is the best place and time toPerform this ritual.
If your tradition normally requires you to cast a circle, do so now.
3, Begin by reflecting on the nature around you. Take a deep breath and smell the nature around you.See if you can feel the shift in energy as the Wheel of the Year has turned.
Light the green candle, to symbolize the blossoming earth. As you light it, say the following
The Wheel of the Year turns yet again,
and the equinox arrives.
Light and dark are now equal,
as the soil breaths life once more.
The earth as awakend from its slumber,
and gives new life to the earth once more.
4, Next, light the yellow candle, which represents the sun. As you do so, say
The sun draws ever within us,
covering the earth with its welcoming rays.
Light and dark are now equal,
and all life is filled with light and warmth.
The suns rays warms the earth beneath our feet,
and gives us life to grasp in our hands.
5, Finally, light the purple candle. purple represents the Divine in our lives. Concentrate on the Divine around and within you. Say
6,
Spring is here, For this we thank you.
The Divine is within us and all around,
It falls within the rain,
and grows within each bud of flower,
Its the life force that makes us the way we are,
and so blessed to be alive on this day.
Welcome, life! Welcome, light! Welcome, spring!
7, Use a moment to meditate whilst focusing on the three flames before you and what they symbolise. Think about your own place within these three things. The earth, the sun, and the Divine. Think about how these fit in within your life.
Finally, blend your milk and honey together, mix gently. Offer it to the earth by pouring it onto the ground around your altar.
As you make the offering say something like this..
I give this offering to the earth as a thank you to all the blessings i have recieved in life.
8, Once you have made your offering, reflect for a moment. Feel the nature and elements surrounding you, Use your senses fully, smell everything, taste the air. Be at one with mother earth.
When you are ready, end the ritual.
Blessed Be
